If the President of the United States thinks Hillary Clinton's use of her personal email for governmental purposes was a "mistake", her opponents will surely use this to undermine any of her efforts for a bid at the Democratic nomination. Hillary Clinton's email scandal has been at the head of the politic media for some time, and this issue is not being let go. With the Democratic Primary being held, Tuesday 10/13, Democrats will use this lack of thought and Hillary's initial stance against the War in Iraq to try and hurt her poll numbers. In this article President Obama says, “As a general proposition, when we’re in these offices, we have to be more sensitive and stay as far away from the line as possible when it comes to how we handle information, how we handle our own personal data.” Certainly we can see from this that Hillary Clinton is incapable of handling her duties and her personal life. As former Secretary of State, she could not handle her personal data from her work data, so if elected President will she be able to break away from this habit. The 2016 presidential election is about a year away now and Hillary's email blunder will surely hurt her in the poll numbers.
I agree that Hillary's mistake does reflect badly on her character. Her lack of transparency after the exposure was for the most part embarrassing. However, I don't think that this will be a huge setback in her campaign; people are more focused on the Republican Nomination, namely Donald Trump. In the past months, although there have been articles about her scandal, Donald Trump has dominated the front pages. If she is able to avoid the questions and weather the storm, I don't think that the scandal will cost her nearly as much as it could have.
ReplyDeleteI do think that the email should and will hurt the poll numbers. I think that as President, aside from the experience and political knowledge, each candidate should have honest traits and should not be holding anything back from the people. I don't think it's the fact that she cannot handle her personal life and work life but the fact that she is not honest in her field of work.
ReplyDeleteHillary will never be able to hide from this email controversy, and it surely will be used against her by the time the actually presidential election takes place (if she does end up winning the primary). While she has stepped up and apologized for using her private email, people will never overlook this fault and criticize her a great deal for it. However, I do not think that she will repeat this offense in the future, seeing how she's received so much backlash for it.
