In an interview Trump was asked if his presidency would result in an era of bipartisanship. He responded by saying that he would be a great unifier for our country. He spoke about the House Select Committee on Benghazi's questioning of Clinton. He saw the hearing as "very partisan" which "hurts both parties" and "hurts the country." I do agree that the current partisanship does hurt the country and we need a president that can be supported by conservatives and liberals. I don't think Trump will be the person for this job. He has criticized politicians from his own party and from the Demoratic party. He said that the country is divided and there is a hatred he has never seen before, which he can fix. If Trump believes he could have a bipartisan presidency, why is he attacking everyone? If anything comes of him running, it will be a shared dislike between liberals and conservatives.

I agree with Julia that bipartisanship would be great for our country and that Trump is not fit for that role. Trump is not supported by many and instead of creating a bipartisanship, I think many politicians would disagree with his policies. He always feels like he is the victim and refuses to see his own flaws.
ReplyDeleteI do not think Trump could ever be labeled as a "unifier." Throughout his entire campaign he has proven his inability to be impartial to views that conflict with his own.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emmaly; Trump's whole campaign thus far has banked on incendiary marks intended to be divisive, not unifying. It's incredibly ironic that Trump claims to have "gotten along with Democrats...and with Republicans" when his front has been, all along, about indiscriminately attacking his opponents on both sides. Trump's character, which, for whatever reason, has gained him appeal, hinges upon conviction and an uncompromising forceful character, which is the polar opposite of bipartisanship.
ReplyDeleteTrump in my opinion will not be a unifier. If anything, this country will be the most broken up it will ever be. Between his issues on immigration reform, that alone will tear apart the country. I agree that he is attacking everyone that does not have the same ideas as him and that is definitely not a good quality for the POTUS.
ReplyDeleteYes, bipartisan would be beneficial for this country, however, is it truly practical? Factions have existed since the establishment of our political system and now an inexperienced, brash, businessman is ambitiously saying that he will be the ideal man who brings our government under one roof.
