Donald Trump seems to have a lot of confidence in his campaign, and perhaps it's a bit too overrated. It's true that the republican candidate is currently leading the national GOP polls, but that doesn't mean he won't be losing support, especially if he continues his habit of making reckless commentaries. Aside from Trump's bold response to interviewer Harwood's pose on illegal immigration, the GOP candidate also made some overly brazen comments on his leading poll results: "Right now I'm leading every poll, and in most cases big....If I was like some of THESE people at 1% and 2%, there's no reason to continue forward".
As I was reading the article, I kept pondering upon the same question: What makes this republican candidate so brash and shameless, aside from his innumerable wealth, his ability to sell condos to China, and full media coverage addressing his countless extra-marital affairs and reckless remarks?

I think Donald Trump is overconfident in his belief that he will indeed win the position of presidency. Otherwise, I don't see how he has the confidence to say things like these. Also, even if he loses, he always has a place to return to...his massive business. Either way, he doesn't have much to lose and so, I think he's trying to keep up his head in front of the public, showing that he is a person who is not capable of losing anything. As Harwood said, "We don't have Superman presidents" on the question of how Donald Trump will deport 11 million immigrants from the country, I feel really uneasy at Donald Trump's response. He believes that he can do what others cannot do and this way of thinking is not so trustworthy without proof. I know from experience because when someone is trying to, perhaps, open a jar and is having a hard time, I always have that thought that I can open it amidst all the others who try. Then, when I actually do get my hands on it, it doesn't exactly go as I had imagined because I cannot open it either. Like this, Donald Trump seems to have such a strong belief in himself...and not so much others. In that case, you can just imagine the type of president he will be, closing his ears to things he regards as unimportant and just reasoning with everybody, "what I know is right and my decisions will turn out best because I am Superman." It's okay if you're a child that believes in Superman...not when you're a fully grown adult......
ReplyDeleteThis candidacy is a game for Trump, in which in the case of winning or losing, he never really loses. "Well, if I tank, sure, I go back to the business. Why wouldn't I?" As a validation of his repulsive arrogance, Trump uses his admittedly highly successful business as his backup if running for President doesn't pan out in his favor. It is honestly unsettlingly comical to think about Trump's insistence that he will be able to drive out 11 million immigrants without a solid concrete plan. How would you round up 11 million undocumented immigrants as they are dispersed everywhere in the country? As President, Donald Trump will have things he plans to do without really having a "plan", just an idea which he has played out in his mind, but he just can't quite formulate it into words. Superman Trump will be one who can;t fly and only "saves" the citizens by putting them in a worse situation. We don't always have incapable, self- absorbed presidents, "No," Trump said, "but we will if you have Trump."His child-like nature to demand everything he wants will only leave him sorely disappointed when he realizes just how devastating the aftermath is of his nonsense plans as President.
ReplyDeleteI think Trump is very confident and believes he can win because his name is out there and people know about him. All his skeletons are out in the open and we know practically everything about him so that gives him an advantage over the other candidates. He knows in himself that if he doesn't win it was just another publicity thing for him and it helps him whether he wins or not . What makes him so sure he can bring about changes? I honestly don't know. Maybe it's all the deals he had conducted and been successful with or the fact that he's not a politician and hasn't been a part of this "corrupted " government. I believe that is one of his appeals to the people and the reason he's so cocky.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Trump is very overconfident in his standing for the election. This confidence isn't unfounded because he has been the leading candidate in the polls for a very long time now. However, I believe that its only a matter of time before he loses a lot of his support. Like you said, he is constantly losing support from people with his reckless statements, but I also believe that the initial effects of his announcement of running for president is wearing off. I believe that as the election day gets closer, more people will realize that Trump actually has no real plan for how he would go about his "policies" and has limited knowledge on current political issues, and will start supporting others.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Donald Trump is quite overconfident about the presidential campaign, but for all his words I feel that most of them don't really have any backup or reasonable thinking behind them. For instance when he states as one of goals to "deport 11 million undocumented immigrants," his words just seem to me to be rash and irrational. Likewise on his reply to gun control, instead of providing a possible solution to the problem, he just responds by saying that "such shootings will continue in the United States no matter what." His lack of base and not really able to take controversial issues seriously may only cause the people to eventually realize that all he has is his money and arrogance.
