Carson camp shuts down questions about Popeyes

Carson recently has been caught in a media frenzy with his recent comments about Gun
Control. One comment that I found most interesting was his anecdote of a man who pointed a gun to Carson's face nearly 30 years ago. Carson says, "I have had a gun held on me when I was in a Popeyes organization" and "Guy comes in, put the gun in my ribs. And I just said, 'I believe that you want the guy behind the counter." Honestly, I think Carson is just lying about the whole situation and that his credibility should be questioned after this. In addition, Carson callous comments make me question his morals as a whole if he was willing to make others experience hardships in order to protect himself. I will be following what Carson says in the upcoming weeks to see what comes with this story and his future comments.

  1. At first, I just passed off the story as true, despite the shocking nature of it (Carson telling the gunman to go after the cashier). However, the last line of the article does raise suspicions about the credibility of the story: "A spokesperson for Popeyes was not immediately aware of any records of such an incident during that time period". This situation over gun control reminds me of the incident where he said that if he were at the Oregon shooting location, he would have done something to stop the shooter - thereby insinuating that the surviving victims did not do anything to benefit others nor themselves. Overall, his entire stance and comments made about gun control have made negative views on him in the headlines, he should perhaps be more cautious about what he says.

  2. I found this article fairly comical since it was about an incident 30 years ago at a Popeyes. The need to add that Dr. Carson was just getting fries that day was pretty irrelevant. However what irritated me was that Dr. Carson supposedly told the gunman "I believe that you want the guy behind the counter". Honestly, the first thoughts that would come to my mind at gunpoint would be "shut up and pray you're not going to get shot". The fact that story may not even be true because witnesses are not mentioned and the spokesperson for Popeyes is unable to recount this incident just shows that this may be part of Carson's twisted platform for gun control. If Carson was comparing his situation to the Oregon shooting, he did a horrible job of setting an example and it just made his campaign a little less influential.
