This article discusses how Jeb Bush is downsizing his campaign by slashing budgets and laying off campaign staff, although he denies that it is foreshadowing his dropout of the primary election. In the face of Trump's firm position in the polls and among the nation as a candidate, he states that he is adjusting his campaign so that he may stand strong before Trump.
I think it's strange that Bush and his team state that they will ensure Bush is the Republican nominee for the 2016 presidential election, yet they are shrinking their campaign. With about two weeks left until the primaries, it will require a miracle for Bush to be on par with Trump and Carson with less effort than the campaign had originally allocated for the cause. If all the current candidates remain, it is unlikely that Bush will win since the majority of voters are spread out among less popular candidates. Nevertheless, if those candidates decide to dropout then Bush surely has a fair chance at winning. I don't think Bush will be dropping out as he says himself, he is refocusing efforts to gain support in states such as New Hampshire. However, I believe reducing his campaign efforts by 45% will not help.

At this point, it would do more harm than good for Bush to drop out this late in the campaign. In any other year, Bush would probably be guaranteed the spot on the GOP primary, but this year is rife with a variety of "candidates" in the GOP section. Bush is in too deep to quit, so he has to see it through to the end. If this is a hint at his giving up, this might just to lessen the impact and prepare for the losses that he made. Hopefully, Jeb Bush does give Trump a run for his money, because out of all the GOP candidates, he has the least crazy ideals for this country.
ReplyDeleteI think that there is a definite possibility of Bush dropping out of the race, as his campaign has been faltering, and I do not think that doing so would be a bad decision. There would be a better chance of one of the insider candidates winning if one of the insider candidates drop out, and as it seems Rubio's campaign is getting stronger, it may be better for Bush to be the one to drop out. Bush staying in the race may actually give Trump the victory by dividing up voters.
ReplyDeleteI think that Jeb Bush downsizing his campaign shows that he will be dropping out of the race anytime soon. I feel that as long as Mr. Bush is in the campaign, then Donald Trump will become the Republican nominee. By dropping out, Mr. Bush would allow stronger candidates to give Donald Trump a run for his money.

ReplyDeleteI don't think that this move is a sign of weakness from Bush and a clear indicator that he may drop out. It is a possibility but like Jane said, Bush is in too deep now. He has so many sponsors and supporters that this would really make all his work a waste of time. If you think about it objectively, these cuts are really beneficial to Bush's campaign anyway because he is being more wise with the way he's spending money. Bush may actually take away his candidacy but I think that it takes a lot to make a person quit and Bush hasn't been pushed to that point yet.
ReplyDeleteI think that this move by Bush was to refocus his efforts on certain states for primaries. If he concentrates his efforts on certain states and puts field units on ground then he will have a higher chance at nominations. Also, I think the budget cuts that he has used will gave him better leeway to maneuver if he does become the Republican nominee. Despite all these assumptions, only Bush knows what's coming up for his platform in the future.
