Democrats' Distance from Obama

"They may not come out and criticize Obama, but they'll all be saying, "This hasn't been a good recovery for most people," said Dean Baker, an economist and a co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, As stated in article, major Democratic presidential candidates such as Hilary Clinton that were once supportive of Barack Obama's policies, are now expressing disapproval and finding ways to indirectly criticize that he has not done enough, etc. For instance, Hilary Clinton has stated that she "will not support the Trans Pacific Partnership that she had championed as Secretary of State and which Mr. Sanders has come out forcefully against."
It seems ironic to me that both Clinton and Sanders are pushing forth promises that they may do a better job as president and will use a different means / methods from that of Obama's. However, it seems that for Hilary Clinton, trying to push away from Obama may not be so simple. Cases such as "Obama's unstable relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that lead to argue that Obama has not been a strong ally of the Jewish state, has extended those criticism to Clinton, who carried out Obama's policies for four years in her role as his secretary of state." (http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/11/politics/jewish-voters-florida-hillary-clinton-election-2016/index.html). Interviews from Jewish voters from Florida have implied that many "have lost trust, confidence, and respect for Obama and don't particularly side with Hilary Clinton" because of distrust and unease toward Obama's policies toward Israel and Iran and feelings that he "is not for Israel."

  1. I think the candidates are taking a jab at Obama and the lack of things he said he would accomplish. But also they are trying to distinguish themselves saying this is what they plan to get done within their term. They say they will go a different route to accomplish these goals and may even do it better than the current president. They don't agree on some things he has done either and these are the things they plan to change.
