Trump V.S. Bush blowing up 9-11

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/10/trump-immigration-terror-attacks-214905

I agree with Trump, when he says that we were not safe under the presidency of George W. Bush, to the extent that when 9-11 occurred our country went into a state of chaos and fear towards a specific race of immigrants. This terrorist attack made Americans doubt their own security and freedoms with the after effects of the attack. I disagree with Jeb Bush when he says his brother did what any president would do because George Bush's response targeted a specific group of immigrants and created misconceptions about people who were looked like they were the same race, or had the same religion as the terrorists. I disagree that Trump would have handled the situation better because of his little to no knowledge of foreign policy. An attached video in the article shows an ad sponsored by the Jeb Bush campaign about how Trump avoids answering questions about foreign policy, and when he does it only shows that he has no concrete plan on how to move forward with international relationships.

  1. I feel that what Trump had said is not completely stupid. I find it reasonable to hold Bush responsible for the attack, and also disagree with Jeb Bush's statement of how the former president kept us safe. The terrorist attack put our nation into a state of chaos, and the Bush administration was also in too much disarray to contribute much. I agree with your statement of how Bush's response led to the stereotypes and misconception of the people who were of the same faith as the terrorists. However, this is not to say that I completely agree with Trump. I feel as if he would not have been able to handle the situation better, and might have even made things worse. He has no knowledge of the workings of the government, has no concrete plans on how to enact his policies, and his controversial statements leads me to believe that he would have made enemies with every single immigrant group.

  2. I also disagree that Trump would have been able to manage the situation better, but it seems more to me that he is again trying to push the question away by turning it to how President Bush had handled 9/11, instead of actually responding to what he would have done. I do agree with Cerlina though that the terrorist attack did lead to much chaos and misunderstanding on people who were of the same faith and race as the terrorists.

  3. I feel like Trump if anything would have made the situation way worse. I agree that he does not know anything about foreign policy but also the way he speaks about immigrants now just shows he would not be able to have done anything better. He already is wanting to deport thousands of people a day for two years. Imagine if this situation happened under his presidency? He would start a war within the country to deport and not allow anyone into the country.

  4. Hindsight is always 20/20 and it's always easy to criticize the mistakes that has already been done. But I do agree with Jeb that George did what he thought was correct. Could he have handled it better? Definitely. Was there a better option than go to the Middle East? Arguable. But at the end of the day Bush did what he believed was necessary and honestly, it seemed to work out alright. Now if Trump were in that situation, who the hell knows what would happen given Trump's background and the policies he promises. It makes you wonder.
