Donald Trump has suggested that the former President Bush was responsible for the falling of the World Trade Center on 9/11. Jeb Bush responded by calling Trump pathetic. The article goes on to say how Trump's popularity has declined and how Jeb Bush has to deal with being part of the Bush family. I agree with Jeb Bush's opinion on Trump. 9/11 was caused by terrorists, and President George Bush Jr. was in office for only a couple of months. There was no real way he could have prevented the attacks. Instead, I think Trump is just trying to drive his numbers up again by spurring controversy. I agree with the author's argument that Trump's chances of winning are dropping, but I have yet to made a decision on Jeb Bush's chances.

I agree with the author as well. Trump's numbers in the polls are declining and he is thus using rash assertions to extend his popularity among the masses. However, it is highly absurd to hold former president George W. Bush responsible for the tragedy. He, as one man, could not have done much to prevent it given that many threats come toward Washington daily and it is extremely hard to detect the real ones. Back to the topic of Trump, he may need to start using actual campaign methods rather than his free media to solidify his bid in the upcoming election. On the other hand, Bush is still not leading at the top of the polls, so it is difficult to determine his chances for the bid.
ReplyDeleteI understand the author's point about Trump not running TV ads and not trying to raise large amounts of money but I still think that Trump, how ever bad this is, still has a really good chance of winning the Republican primary. His inflammatory marks do not seem to be hurting him enough for him to go to second in any poll, and they are keeping him at first in almost every poll. While nothing is sure yet, I don't think we can discount any of the main Republican candidates, such as Trump, Bush, Carson, Rubio, Fiorina, or Cruz.
ReplyDeleteI feel as if Trump is in a do vs. die situation. He knows that his numbers have increased from criticizing other politicians and he continues to state himself that he is not a politician. Initially, this tactic worked amazing for Trump and he outshined his competitors by far. However, now, with other candidates such as Ben Carson and Marco Rubio gaining ground on Trump, he is returning to his condescending ways- however this time to a new extreme.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Trump can't blame Bush for allowing the Twin Towers to come down but I'm not sold that he is just trying to get his numbers up. If he really wanted to be effective and slam the Bush family, he should have blamed George Bush for sending troops into Iraq. This event really crippled our country with countless soldiers dead and in the end what what was accomplished? Trump showed up with little tact but I don't think his intention was to boost his ratings because there would be more effective ways to do that
ReplyDeleteI don't think Trump necessarily blamed Bush for 9/11, but reminded the public that it had occurred on Bush's watch. He's letting the people decide for themselves whether Bush is to blame; however, what he is definitely trying to do is bring up bad moments in Bush history in an attempt to shoot him down.
