Marco Rubio's Stance on a Sharing Economy

In New York City,  Marco Rubio expressed his support for the continuation of the sharing economy, as he sees it as a great innovation to the progress of the American economy. A sharing economy, an economy in which people can borrow or rent assets owned by someone else (usually via the internet), is becoming extremely popular as seen by the use of companies such as Uber and Airbnb. Some people are against these types of companies as they see them as a threat to labor rights and are a way for big corporations to make money by hiding under the name of "sharing economy". However, Rubio sees the sharing economy as innovative and a concept that can maintain America's position of having the best economy in the world. I agree with Rubio as times are changing and a sharing economy exemplifies the use of the internet and new technology to allow consumers to more easily find what they are looking for at a more cheaper price. We do not need government regulation to interfere with the progression of a sharing economy because even though a sharing economy creates a competition with taxi cabs and hotel chains, causing them to lose a lot of many, it is the way the economy naturally works. When someone comes up with a newer and more efficient way to reach consumers it creates competition among companies, encouraging other  companies to think of better way to appeal to consumers. This allows for new businesses to thrive and give consumers more options to choose from.

  1. I agree with Marcy that sharing economy is a good plan. It allows competition between companies in getting customers attention and money. The economy works well in this way because government is not regulating the businesses. I think this is working for the economy now and if Marco Rubio continues this it would keep helping the economy.
